Different timber, different character

The car-port, garden store, ancillary end of the house has a different, more expressed, more agricultural Vernacular feel. The timber structure is more exposed to the elements (unlike the sheltered Beech) and therefore Douglas fir has been elected for the exposed structural timber elements. This timber is more durable and has a degree of self preservation when exposed to repeated moisture.
