Using sophisticated GPS laser measuring devices the setting out engineer sets the foundation locations up. Even at this stage accuracy is crucial because the timber frame and trusses are being made miles away in factory conditions and when they arrive on site they need to fit within a 10mm tolerance. The foundations are carefully dug and the result is a new landform somewhat reminiscent of a time-team dig!
